Dave wrote:Hi everyone,

After a nice 5 day trip to Tasmania and work seriously breaking my balls I finally got some chart time. Just a quick journal update, took three trades today..... I show the 34 template for the last one because I did flick to that chart and liked the setup so it was behind my decision to enter. Really tried to let 'em run (except the first one) and it worked out well. Also had a chance to close out the second entry a bit earlier, but if I'd closed on green line on the third trade it would have been a single entry for about 7 pips, and the size of the 3rd wave on market open on the DAX really made me want to hold it long.

Thur 28 Feb

Log (UK):

- Start 07:00
- Finish 11:15

1. Did you perform your pre-trading routine?

Yes.

2. Did you trade today? If yes, detail your entries including reasons for entry and exit and trade results.

Yes. Sell on EURJPY outside M5 level. Charts were sideways early morning so I was waiting for M5 alligator to start to open and price to get outside M5 levels before getting in.

Did set another order on EJ before this entry (in the trade chat thread) but deleted it pretty soon after, had to fight off impatience, wasn’t outside the range.

DAX sell for -4.7, just didn’t work out.
Screen Shot 2013-02-28 at 9.38.02 PM.jpg
Then sold EURJPY again, very happy with the entry and the add on, but the big spike came and when it wasn’t a spike but a full candle that had broken the M15 low I wanted to let it run, was too slow when it came back fast, and then honestly I sat hoping it'd drop again. Better than BE but a shame as it showed about >20 with the add on.

DAX buy to finish – closed when the add on position came back to BE after showing +8, covered the loser on the DAX sell – although I know I shouldn’t think like that!

3. Were your entries in line with your trading plan? Discuss.

Yep, happy with all the entries.

4. Was your trade management in line with your trading plan? Discuss.

Probably not, was a bit quick to close the first trade when it showed +20ish. A better close trailing candle highs could have given another 10, but given the wait in the morning happy to take almost 2%. Really tried to then let the other trades run whereas if I'd closed them earlier I would have been better off. Sigh.

5. Were your exits in line with your trading plan? Discuss.

As above.

6. Was your money management in line with your trading plan? Discuss.

Yes. Position sizes calculated in line with account balance and desired risk %.

7. If you had a losing trade were you patient in waiting for the next setup? NEVER SEEK REVENGE.

Felt patient. The entries were genuine setups. Had time tonight which helps.

8. If you had a winning trade were you patient in waiting for the next setup? NEVER GET CARRIED AWAY.

Sat patiently, missed the EURJPY sell at 09:49 which I strongly considered but decided against based on old eWave. Did watch for another couple hours and took the last few trades in quick succession and felt they were all justified, just didn’t go on. No worries.

9. Other points for discussion and general feeling of days trading (include results summary).

Nice to have some chart time! I AM TRYING TO LET THEM RUN!!!!! :p

Results summary:

1. +19.2
2. +3.7 (+7 & -3.3)
3. -4.7
4. +5.3 (+5.1 & +0.2)

Total: +23.5 pips

Probably should have minimised the loss and closed on break of upper AIMS, but my SL held and I watched it touch. Another lesson!
