Sef's Journal

Unread post by acey »

Hello fellow Aimsters, I'm Sef from Canada and I recently joined the AIMS group.

First wanted to make sure make sure I got the installation right (did it manually by copy/pasting into the indicators folders).
These are the indicators I have running:
AIMS Box V5.1
AIMS Entry Alert V5.2 noob
AIMS Gator V5.1
AIMS Setup 1 v2 Advanced
Snorm eWaves V1.0

And of course the Aims M1 and M5 V5.1 V1 templates (to which I obviously added the above indicators to :).

This is what it looks like:

Questions:

1. I still haven't heard any entry alerts sounds. So not sure if they are working (not sure if there was a separate sound file that goes in a particular folder?!?) I just placed all the above indicators in the indicators folder and the templates in the template folder.

2. Also, are we still trading the EURUSD the ATR level shown in the widget is around 67 which is lower than the minimum 80 required?
If not, what currencies are we trading? I would prefer to trade the Japanese open (up to first 3 hours), and maybe the London open (first 2 hours). As that's what my current job, allows time for.

3. The other doubt I had was whether am I seeing enough bars in the AO - its around 70 now with the 'Title Vertically' option on my laptop... or do I just need to have separate windows for M1 and M5?

Apologize in advance if my questions sound silly, just bit of an information overload with so many updates :-s

Also if there are any fellow AIMSters from Canada, would love to hear from you'll.

Hello and welcome to AIMS forum!
Your work place looks ok for me. Everything that you need is here.

Q1: Check properties of AIMS entry Alert. I m Using 5.1, but sure that you will find somthing like that -
q1.png
Q2: Now the most tradable m1/m5 pair here is DAX30 (index). I hope your broker allows you to trade it. As for Japan session - EJ, i think. Asian session is too late for me, so it s just a guess.

Q3: It depends on you. Best way to trade m1/m5 is to look at both charts simulatneous.

Hope this help.

Hi Sef and welcome to AIMS! (*)
My advice when first getting started is to read The Setup ebook at least a few times, read Immy's journal at least a few times, and get into Chatzy ( http://www.itradeaims.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=31 ) during the London session to start chart watching with your fellow traders. There's no better forum to ask questions than while watching live charts!
As far as the setup and the system goes, there have been no changes in the underlying system we trade. Little visual changes on the charts don't affect in any way what is a valid setup. While everyone finds their own groove in time, start with M5/M1 side by side and when the M5 alligator wakes up from a sleep and price pulls back a little towards the open gator, then look to M1 for Setup 1. All you need on the charts for this is (and the FIB Multi is optional)....

Good luck!

Hi Sef,

Your fellow AIMSters have beat me to it. Thanks Dave and Nikita. Love you guys!

I noticed one thing, The Noob Indicator is a Beta and was replaced by AIMS Advanced S1. So no need for that. Plus either use AIMS Advanced S1 or AIMS Entry Alert V5.1. I'd say go with the later one because that is what I use and everyone else. Some people do like the S1 (DA Alert) but I think you better leave it to later. First things first. Get the concept right.

cheers

Thanks Dave, Nikita and Immy for your replies. (wd)

@ Nikita
I did check the boxes - they seem alright. Also. got rid of Aims Setup 1 v2, so that shouldn't conflict with Aims Entry Alert V5.1.
Still haven't heard the lady's voice :D
And so I thought maybe there are separate sound file(s)/folder that I had to download+put a sound file in [I only copy/pasted AIMS Entry Alert V5.1.ex4 (EX4 file) in the indicators folder.] The only sound I hear from time to time is like an "invalid mouse click beep/sound"..

@Dave
I'm going to try to make the London session Chatzy first 2 hours from next week ( 4am ~o) before work, not sure yet.. )
Have read the setup twice, but I understand what you are saying - will do my best to memorize everything :)
Using your recommended indicators, will probably get the Fib Multi and search the forum to find out more about it.

@Immy
Alright Immy, got rid of the Noob Indicator.
This is what I have now:
aims indicators sef.jpg
In the meantime I am looking at some currencies in where Japan/Australia/NZ where at least one of the market is open when I am home..
So focusing on EURJYP; and keeping an eye for GBPJYP, EURAUD and EURNZD. Spreads are quite low for all with decent ADR.

Also I don't think my broker has DAX at least not on MT4, but will find out..
Which is the most recommended broker for DAX?

Not sure about laws in Canada but a few of us use ICMarkets to trade the DAX. But there are a few options if you just look under the CFD sections of a few well known brokers.
Best wishes,
Dave
