Re: Grants Journal
Hi everyone,
Last day off from work for trading today for the year so was hoping for a good one. Didn’t disappoint although I sat and watched 2 good set ups which annoyed me slightly during London am. Managed to grow a pair for the NY session until I had to leave to take the twins to tennis lessons…
So todays trades were:
1. +16
2. 0
3. -6
4. +10
5. -5
6. +13
Total +28(2.15%)
Trade records and pics below
Having had a good day today I won’t be tempting fate tomorrow on the last trading day of the year so I have officially closed the books for 2011.
December has thus finished at +113 pips (+8.72%). A decent return for 2 weeks of part time trading.
My family and I wish you and your loved ones a very happy, relaxing and enjoyable Christmas and New year.
Cheers
Grant
PS. January the 9th is when I’ll start up again so a nice 3 week rest to recharge and regain the hunger for making pips….

Re: Grants Journal
Hi Grant, wish you also a nice x-mas and a happy new year!
thanks for all the help, I have also a little ?, may you see that at your indicator sometimes.
but no hurry for answer, take your time and relax by your family.
I think it's only first time, after open the MT4, and if any levels change then all ok

Re: Grants Journal
Hi Grant
I am new to the site and Immy suggested I check out your journal. Firstly thank you for taking the time to post your trades here as not only does it help with my learning but I have also found it inspirational to see someone trading so consistently.
I was wondering what key things you have learned looking back over your trades and what suggestions you might have for me as I set out on my AIMS trading journey.
Many thanks again for your contributions and best wishes to you and your family for a magical Christmas.
Mike

Re: Grants Journal
HI Mike,
over the years i have learnt many many things so i have chosen a few that i believe everyone looking to trade should do... So:
1. Follow your own rules, Imrans system is a great basis for trading but we will all trade it slightly differently. SO once you have found your way then follow it religiously.
2. Keep a picture record of your trades (like the pdf i do), This has helped me immensely because i dont care how good your memory is (and mine is pretty crap tbh) you will never remember the reasons behind every trade you take.
3. once you keep an accurate record you can then assess the good and bad of your trading over a set period of say 20 trades and make any adjustments to rectify mistakes or take positives from the good and repeat them.
4. Patience and discipline are vital, my set up repeats many times during the day, through experience i now know that it does, which stops me chasing price and making bad entries....
this is the one i still have trouble with
5. we have the set up as our reason to get into the market, but always have a reason for getting out of the market as well. I try not to touch the mouse once in a trade unless my rules give me reason to do something (ie move SL)... Its easier said than done and yet i still struggle....
6. Lastly enjoy it, i know more than enough people that dont like their jobs, so you have to enjoy this or forex will eat you and your account alive...
I hope these points help and a very merry christmas and pip filled new year to you and your family as well
cheers

Re: Grants Journal
Hi everyone,
Happy New Year!!!!
Now, I know I said I wouldn’t be trading til the 9th but the kids and wife were back at school/work today so I just had to have a look at the charts…
After my 1st trade I wish I hadn’t. I’ll put it down to being rusty and over eager after my time off. Despite ignoring basically all the rules on trade 1 I kept going and actually had a solid day, I would quit for the year now if I could get the same result every trading day guaranteed…. lol
So my days trades were:
1. -7
2. -4
3. 9
4. -4
5. 11
6. 8
Total : +13 (1%)
Trade records including pics are posted below.
Cheers

Re: Grants Journal
I was eagerly waiting for your update today! Thanks. I did not do very well myself. Due to some indegenous issues I collected only rents  but ended up slightly down!
Trade 3 was a clever exit. Days high nice one! I missed Trade 4. i dont know how! Trade 5 was nice tidy one that balanced my books. Trade 6 was also good setup. very nice exit there too. though it looks intuitive it is not, since you knew the reason behind your exit. and as you always say, exit wherever but you must have reason for it. thanks for sharing!
