I like Immy's initiative to systematically backtest the strategy using Flowchart :

Image

Immy's results :
The stats for the month of Sep 2014 are based on the assumption that all the system generated singals were taken between London Open (8am UK) to German Stock market close at 4.30pm uk, using the Flow chart entry technique and trade management as per previous posts.
Image

So my idea was to test the strategy with the same premises and see if i get the same results.
and guess what ? I don't !

First the premises :

- CLoseToZL : 10 pips (flow chart rule 2)
- MaxFractalBoxSIze : 12 pips (flow chart rule 3)
- Switch to 5min fractal box for breakout level if distance between 1min and 5 min Fractal levels is 3 pips or less

OK so here I post my first chart: DAX 1min chart for the 15th september
Ger30Dec14M1-Setups-15-Sept-14.png
There are 2 differences with respect to the backtesting template posted by Immy :

1: I haven't bought the ewave indicator yet, so I use AIMS waves 5.1
2: I added the MTF_fractal indicator ( free) to display 5min fractal levels on the 1min chart

So let's consider the dots on the chart :

10:03 Blue dot Trade marked up in Immy's file : OK

10:24 Blue dot Fractal Box size is more than 12 pips and there is no breakout anyway : Not in Immy's record : OK

10:28 Blue dot AIMS waves close to ZL ( orange),
Fractal box size is 5.5 pips, 1min fractal upper level is 9660, 5min fractal upper level is 9665.5 (more than 3 pips higher) so we wait for a breakout of 9660. And the 10:32 candle broke this level. So Immy, why is it not in your file ?

10:37 Blue dot Valid set up but no break out : Not in the file : OK

10:45 Blue dot AIMS waves close to ZL ( orange), Fractal box size is 5 pips, 1min fractal upper level is 9657, 5min fractal upper level is 9661 (more than 3 pips higher) so we wait for a breakout of 9657 10:48 candle broke this level. So it should be recorded as a valid trade

10:53 Blue dot Valid set up but no break out : Not in the file : OK

10:56 Valid trade It is recorded OK

11:19 Blue dot. For me this is also a valid trade so why is it not recorded ?

11:26 Blue dot. No break out. Not recorded OK

11:28 Red dot. Valid trade. Recorded OK

To summarize, according to my understanding of the rules, 10:28, 10:45 and 11:19 blue dots are valid trades but Immy didn't mark them up. Actually , i could find many others like that, so I must have missed something.

Thank you for reading till the end of this post . I hope it is understandable. if it is not clear, tell me

Cheers,

Bruno

What do you mean CloseToZL : 10 pips? its not ten pips. its the value of hte eWave. If you set it to 10.00 then on m15 it would approximately tell you that eWave is Close to ZL. But I think it should be around 3.00 to 5.0 on m1 dax on GKFX. It could be different using different brokers. Its much subjective visual analysis than mathematical value. but the box size is quite objective. The MaxFractalBoxSize means that if box is 12 pips and less then risk may be ok anything above it is not good. So what is your question? And where do you disagreed with the worksheet? I'm keen to know...

or let me guess? you're wondering why these trades were not taken? or are you wondering why does the dots appear on this chart?

Hi Immy, Thanks for your reply

In fact as the template file you posted here : http://www.itradeaims.net/forum/viewtop ... 180#p17537
contains
<indicator>
name=Custom Indicator
<expert>
name=Snorm eWAVES V1.0
flags=339
window_num=1
<inputs>
VariableClosetoZL=1
MaxClosetoZL=10.00000000
MinClosetoZL=5.00000000
I thought you set CloseToZL parameter to 10 pips for your test
But right, let us rather take a value around 3-5 pips
This filters out 10:28 blue dot. Good

So what is your question?
Are there blue dots at 10:45 and 11:19 on your chart ?
If so, do you consider these are valid setups according to the flow chart?

And where do you disagreed with the worksheet?
On my chart (broker is ActivTrades) I have blue dots at 10:45 and 11:19 on 15th September
And I think that these are valid setups for taking trades (according to the flow chart, of course). As the breakouts did occur for these two dots ( see my chart) , I was expecting to find them in your worksheet ...

Those were filtered as per rules. Mostly due to m5 being too close etc. More on this in chatroom.

Please Note AGAIN. Its NOT 10 or 5 pips. Its the vslue of AO sbove below zero line

Hi,
Let's consider this case.
The 15th sept 11:19 candle has just closed and there is a blue dot ...

Will you take this trade ?

Hi Bruno - It is hard to see your trades on the chart, but do you take every M15 Aims break?

I see. Maybe you could filter a little bit more and only trade when there is a tight Aims box?

Cheers
