Re: Ray's amnesty page

I missed the moves at 0800 GMT, as I didn't come to the screen before 0830. In fact if I was even watching I dont know whether I would have got into that up trend which proved so profitable.
It went into a very slow mode between 1030 and 1230 and then coinciding with the drop in price and break of aims 5 level I had enough confirmation to go short, made 40 pips today, which is again phenomenal.
There's a saying in our family, "If you had your own gold mine would you just work in it for 5 minutes a day?" However there is a much better feeling inside for closing the terminal down once the day's target has been achieved and succeeded, it did of course take rather longer than 5 minutes today to wait for the right opportunity and to extract something precious from it...........

Patience pays.

Dax hasn't been quoting on most brokers for at least the first hour after FO, seems there is an IT project ongoing at Eurex

I cannot remember an unannounced outage of this kind before, and it would be rather uncomfortable if one had open positions overnight............ Fortunately by what I can make out there is little volatility in the markets generally at the moment, but coming so soon after the Swiss Franc fiasco where a lot of people couldn't trade for minutes and hours it is all a bit unsettling.......

Very true, Ray, espacilly as it came unannounced.

This uncertainty was the reason for me not to take the break-out right away. Instead I waited for DAX to move regularly.

Thanks, yes and ditto
Whilst I saw others bagged dozens of pips on contra entry (fruit) I waited because my indicators which include fractals, the 5, 8 and 13 and 40 smoothed averages (ie the purple) and AO take between 30 and 60 minutes to line up correctly, and I am trying hard to stay disciplined to the setups which I have learned to trust over the months and years.......... (Impulsive and intuitive trades tend to be the ones where I allow too much leeway in the stops and pay for dearly!!!)

1730 GMT Dax m1. The only way to catch this winner which was a classic S1 would have been a Pending Order, which admittedly is the entry arrangement for m1 trading :) I wasn't watching at the time. Had a good day, more than 50 net pips, once the derivatives markets got sorted.

(If anyone else remembers a period of outage like this I would be interested to know)

Yesterday was a waste of time, I suppose we kind of knew that the absence of an American session would cause a long flag pattern, although it did get a bit lively at the end.

I like an article by the system master about being consistent, and applying the rules correctly and measuring progress in the context of 20 trades
This principle has been on my mind lately also and I have started to keep statistics on that basis.

My last 20 Dax trades gave 72 pips, averaging 3.6 and 7.3% return. Even so, I could have done better by reducing one or two bad rents, and realise it's lack of focus, over trading and being asleep at the controls which limits my progress.

On this basis it has to be said the dynamic method of trading given by this set of tools and rules is superlative.

The other thing I find hilarious is it is advertised as "the most accurate forex system in the world wins 48 trades in a row"

I have seen that binary option system sellers make even worse claims. That's the consequence of the whole job not being regulated.

nearly 200 pips for me there, at 2% intended risk, and all I will declare is "more than 25% return on equity"

This followed a warning a few minutes earlier from one of my brokers to watch out for open positions due to the Greek/EU discussions, which had made me wonder whether to get out before it even happened.......

"Dear Client,

Talks in Brussels continue today between Greece and other members of the Eurozone regarding the restructuring of the Greek debt.

Markets are currently experiencing higher volatility levels, which may rise further if an agreement is not reached.

Please be conscious of this high volatility and additional risk during the closed period of the market at the weekend. Please ensure your account is adequately funded to maintain margin for your open positions. Alternatively you may wish to reduce or close some positions.

Risk Warning: Trading Forex and Derivatives carries a high level of risk, including the risk of losing substantially more than your initial expenditure.

I hope many aimsters got some of this :) :)
