Re: The SEED

Unread post by Grant »

Evening,

As discussed in the skype room today here is a flow chart for how i trade "initial" entry seeds. I use these to look for cheap entries into waves 3 and 5.

These entries are not as technical as S1/S2s so more trader discretion is needed.

For example :

How big is initial peak?
How many bars is the pullback?
If there is a large ADR is an 11 pip seed ok?
There is a great looking 1-2 but entry is just below the gator..

There are some others but if you watch the charts as they are forming then over time you can get a sense of what seeds will be better than others.

Also attached is the indy i use for identifying these candles and a pic of a seed i took today but as i am on my laptop i cant post any more pics tonight. I will post some more example pics when i fire up the trading pc in the am...

Any questions ask Immy.... lol

Good morning Grant and many thanks for your prompt seed post, much appreciated! (wd)

Just a few technical questions:
- Where do you put your SL, opposite of IB or just 10pips?
- What if a fresh IB appears right after an IB, do you readjust your PO?
- When do you consider a seed invalid, when price has crossed SL level?
- Do you still close half of your trades when reaching 1:1?
- Do you use seed during high vol hours only, i.e. LO/NEO?
- Do you use seed also as add-on after S1/S2? Do you actually use add-ons?
- At your seed2 chart the second arrow points to a seed where AO has not changed colour again but retraced from new peak. Is this in line with your second black box of your seed flow chart?

Apologies for all these questions but I'm really interested in the seed concept you use.

Thanks,
Ralf

P.S.: I would have addressed this list of questions to Immy as suggested but I don't want to bother him during his holidays :D

Ralf

from the top the answers are :

- opposite side of seed
- yes
- price CLOSES the wrong side of seed or AO crosses 0 line
- no
- whenever i am trading
- yes as long as the entries are not on top of each other
- yes... peak short is red so retrace and change is blue.... ( think that is what you mean)

no worries for the Q's, its how we all learn

Thank you Grant for sharing your trades! I'm still looking into your approch but am happy to share my initial experience when started trading (maybe after finishing my current T20 batch). Currently I'm still focusing on fruit M5 Dax but I have the gut feeling that seed in combination with S1/S2 is more consistent with my trading mentality; even though I have to admit that fruit M5 is currently running very nicely. But I still have difficulties in following an approach with a win ratio of just 30% even though it's profitable. It just increases my fear of missing the one big trade which boosts my statistics and as we know fear is not a good adviser when trading.

You've mentioned in your flow report 2pips above/below seed for PO. Does this mean you take 1pip spread and 1pip trigger? If so, do you also take 1pip trigger for SL. This would mean for a 9pip seed risk would be at 12 pips, right? And one (or maybe two) final question if I may: What are your exit strategies? Do you consider fruits as well or only AIMS, trail candles, and green line? Do you have a fix TP?

Enjoy your weekend,
Ralf

Ralf,

no problem with the questions... if you have more just ask.

i use 1 pip + spread both sides of the seed for the PO and SL... so for a DAX 9 pip seed the risk is 13 pips...

exits, exits exits, the absolute bane of my trading..

I have a combination of trails that i use, AIMS, green line, opposite fruits, same colour candles.

As for TPs, yes i do in certain market conditions..

ie if i see we are getting near a HTF (h1 +) aims level and IF i have decent profit then i will TP there. Same with previous daily high/lows, weekly high/lows, monthly high/lows.... Basically anywhere where i think price may bounce.... AS LONG AS I CAN TAKE AT LEAST 3:1 PROFIT..

That said i dont often get the top or bottom of a move for TP, BUT I DONT CARE!!!! There will be another trade along very very soon...

Sorry i cant be more specific on exits it really is down to each trader as to how he/she feels comfortable.....

Also i don't want to dampen your fire but see the attached win/loss rates for this month.. These include seeds, S1, S2 and AA trades... i don't actually keep individual stats for each entry technique but the majority are seeds or S1s......

cheers
Grant
