Simon's Journal

Unread post by simonuk »

Hi

I signed up with AIMS last year but didn't have much time to apply it due to moving jobs and countries. Now things have settled down for me I am now starting a journal to track my progress and get feedback on my trading. I've enjoyed reading other peoples journals and can see how it helps so here goes mine!

Trading Strategy:
- Primarily trading 'The Setup' - S1 and S2, SAR, Bracketing and add-ons.
- I am not 100% comfortable with the Fruit and Seed at the moment but I am using it on my chart to learn and help with exits.
- Trade only DAX30 and EUR/USD
- Trade between 8am - 11am GMT each day
- Trade M1/M5 if spread and market allows, otherwise move to M5/M15

Goals:
- Short term goal is to be profitable each week and not worry by how much as long as I follow the rules
- Medium term goal - look to add in trading on higher time frames - H1 - Daily
- Medium term goal - Learn and understand Fruit and Seed and add it to my strategy
- Long term goal - Achieve at least 10% - 20% monthly account growth

Thanks
Simon

First journal entry:

Trade 1: -1 pip, S1 breakout, 0 points
Missed proper entry and did manual entry too late. When price retraced I closed trade for small loss. If I had got in at correct time I would have stayed in the retrace and got out later for a good profit.

Trade 2: +9 pips, S1 breakout, 1 point?
I saw the Adams Apple fruit, I saw the pink dot, AO was close to zero, away from purple and in Wave 5?. As I was going with the trend I opened a trade and closed when it went back to the green line. Not sure if I followed the rules completely here.

Trade 3: +4 pips, S1 breakout, 0 points
There was a tight aims box and recent AO cross but going into purple. When it crossed purple I saw this as a new wave 3 and jumped in which was wrong to do.

Thanks Immy, I've read the Fruit PDF a couple of times now and managed my first fruit trade today. For me I was worried about the low probability of these trades but I need to understand consistency in taking them will put the results in my favour.

Anyway, onto today's trades. Bit of a disaster, not so much the losses, but not following the rules. I missed the 2 big moves mainly due to not getting in at the right time according to the rules. I am finding this journal therapeutic, properly reviewing and writing about my trades helps me understand what I did wrong.

Trade 4: S1, -11 pips, Score:1
Recent red dot, AO close to 0, away from purple, Mouth closed

Trade 5: S1, BE, Score: 1
Same setup as before, price went my way then retraced. I closed on BE/Black diamon

Trade 6: S2, 0 pips, Score: 0
Missed S1 and jumped late into S2 and paid the price from retracement that closed on BE.

Trade 7: S2, 0 pips, Score: 0
Late entry again. Formed a fruit and as the trend had been going for a while I closed at BE

Trade 8: Fruit, 6 pips, Score: 0
It was a valid fruit signal but I was slow adding my PO so got in too far from ideal entry. Price bounced back on previous support and broke gator.

Trade 9: S1, -5 pips, Score:0
I was too busy managing my fruit Sell so got in this S1 late. Again this cost me as when it retraced I got out too soon.

Trade 10: S2, -2 pips, Score:0
Previous break had no dot and was against purple so I didn't take it. Then when I saw it form, I wanted to take next movement and got in late to second AIMS break - price retraced and I paniced and
closed.

Trade 11: S1, -8 Pips, Score:1
I think this was a valid entry, Red dot, AO, away from purple but it turned against me. Enough for today. Next!

Immy: Not an S1, check that there is a Blue/black dot up.

Trade 6: S2, 0 pips, Score: 0
Missed S1 and jumped late into S2 and paid the price from retracement that closed on BE.

Trade 7: S2, 0 pips, Score: 0
Late entry again. Formed a fruit and as the trend had been going for a while I closed at BE
Immy: Not an S2 plus too late as you have mentioned. not S2 because S2 is either 1st or 2nd break of aims out of the box when gator either turned around or woke up from sleep

Trade 8: Fruit, 6 pips, Score: 0
It was a valid fruit signal but I was slow adding my PO so got in too far from ideal entry. Price bounced back on previous support and broke gator.

Yes Immy! I missed the first one as I had just turned on my computer but the second one I saw and got in. Unfortunately the script I use to add my PO adds a TP of 30 pips which in this case was too close and it got hit before I could do anything. So I've removed the TP so I don't have that issue again and only use TP when I need it.

Apart from that problem I think I was more strict. I stayed out of the market when not sure, and got in when I saw good signals. I finished for the day just before the big reverse... oh well... next week :)

Simon

Trade 12: S1, +30 pips, Score: 0 (being tough on myself)
Classic setup, good entry but the price went and hit my default TP. Have now removed TP.

Trade 13: S1, 0 pips, Score: 1
Red dot, AO, Gator closed, away form purple. Decided to take break of previous AIMS as it was s stronger area of support. Price went my way so I moved SL to BE. Price came back to close at BE.

Trade 14: Fruit, -1 pips, Score 1
Market was ranging and bounced off purple with Fruit signal. Price went my way but did not break low aims so moved my SL to BE. Price reveresed and closed.

Thanks Immy, Sam

OK, I have completed my first 20 trades. My score is appalling but I have learnt a lot! :)

Trade: 15 Bad entry, -13 pips Score: 0
Bad entry, Purple and AO ok, but AIMS too big and got in late.

Trade: 16 S1, -12 pips, Score: 1
Correct entry and exit, market still in range. - I thought this was a PC pattern that will reverse now.

Trade: 17 S1, -13 pips, Score: 0
Entry was good, but price went against me straight away so I closed. Should have honoured my SL which would have seen me catch down trend.

Trade: 18 S1, +33 pips, Score 0
Good entry signal and timing, exit probably not the best. Market retraced and I didn't want to lose my gains. Should have held out for green cross.

Trade: 19 S1, +16 pips, Score: 0
Good entry signal and timing. Similar problem to last trade for exit.

Trade: 20 S2, -14, Score: 0
This was me trying to get back in my previous trade, but doing so too late.

Totals: +18 pips and Score of 6/20.
Obviously a bad score and I can see some recurring mistakes. Just need to be more honest with myself and stick to those rules. I think the "Next" phrase works well in all situations, you miss a good entry... that's ok, leave it until the next good entry is formed, don't force a way in like I did in a few places.

-------------------------------------------------

Now for the next 20:

Trade: 1 S2, +23 pips, Score:1?
Nice resistance forming and took break of it. Away from purple, AO close, Gator open

Trade: 2 S1, +25 pips, Score:1
Nice narrow gator, AO, purple. Got in at right time, got out on tight trailing bars but should have stayed in as it went up much further.

Thanks
Simon
