How to Be in The Zone Every Single Day [MUST WATCH]

Unread post by immy »

Take an hour out and Listen to This Ted Talk... 100% useful and relevant to what I keep harping about time and again. Flight and Fight Response, How we become stupid and make silly decisions when challenged, stressed etc.
Whatever you decide to do (sports, hobbies, being healthy, driving, cooking, talking, etc!) you can hack your life and increase your rate of success! All you have to do is understand the concept of the Triune brain, control your breathing(Coherent Breathing), a 30/50% grip strength, and make your tools an extension of your body. Take all this with a perfect body weight transfer(mostly for sports), empty your mind and let your vision do the work.

Doing this perfectly will slow time so you can anticipate instead of reacting!

What you eat affects how you feel!

This was excellent video about how breathing affects to your heart and brains. Worth watching.

From the video description there are many links but the last ones... Oh man, those Wim Hof videos. Never heard that fellow before but that's amazing guy. He made couple of records here in Finland also. Dived under the ice over 50 meters (and had his retinas frozen and he eventually dived over 100 meters after not finding the exit hole) and run half marathon bare foot and in shorts. In Finland, in lappland, in freaking freezing Finnish winter time. He has many other interesting journals and records. Not just him but with other people also. Please have a look:

thanks tomi. I was not sure if anyone actually had the "passion" and time to watch this video. One simple and entertaining presentation with profound benefits in all areas of our lives.

J K Rowling quoted a great greek author Plutarch, "What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality", during her speech to Harvard Graduates of 2008.

Success is not the destiny, its a journey. It involves many attempts most of which will meet failure. But Successful people know that.

I really enjoyed this video! Thanks Immy. This follows right along with what we have learned about making trading decisions without stress and without emotion. I was interested that he mentioned Heart Rate Variability which is the method Roger Callahan, the inventor of EFT or Tapping, used to verify his results. Here is the States we have a similar company called Heartmath which has similar software to get us into coherence. Although Dr. Watkins showed us how to get to the mid-point of emotion he didn't clarify how we can get on the positive side of the emotional divide. Any ideas?

Agreed, and I have checked out HeartMath , was "this" close to buying the bio feedback equiptment but then found something else. Thanks to Trading psychologist and coach to "HEDGE FUNDS" ... Dr. Steinbarger.

The way to get to the To Left Quadrant is the Law of Deliberate Intent. The process can be derived from many sources, one such entertaining read is The Zen, in the Markets by Edward Allen Toppel. Concise book. 3 step process that you will learn at the end of the book but I urge you not to read ahead. Be disciplined and read from start to end.

cheers

ps: the process has been well and thoroughly explained in my "humble" ebook Activating the Zone " http://www.itradeaims.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=108

Immy, thanks for the thoughts.

I presume the device you are talking about is the StressEraser?

I will revisit your humble writings about "Activating the Zone".

Maybe THIS is the reason we want to trade from a calm place. The subjects in this study by Dr. Dean Radin, seemed to know what the computer was going to send them before the computer did! Were they seeing into the future? Other experiments seem to corroborate these results.

If we got into the zone before we opened a chart would we know what was going to happen before we saw it?

Ed,

The zone is not a mystical esoteric place... its just a condition of the brain where its wave pattern is coherent. The flight and fight response is not activated and its in a "smooth" state. Now remember, we used to say "STRESS FREE" and "CALM" is the way but in practice, I can testify, this that its not necessarily the case that I'm in the zone only when I'm calm and relaxed. Rather, it depends on the type of activity we are doing. A one minute trader might not be able to trade in a completely serene frame of mind. Because relaxed also, often, means slow. Abrupt changes in mind, the spikes are gone, its smoother. A bit like high speed train. Its fast but very smooth, a tiny little bump can be catastrophic but it runs in a smooth fashion, all the parts running fast but smooth in a timely manner.

Now think of a poet writing about the peaceful surrounding of a lake saiful malook
Image

He would be in the calm relaxed but coherent wave pattern.

but a rugby players wave length will be different. but it will be in the top left quadrant. Passionate, full of energy yet smooth and enjoying himself.

The Question of whether we can predict the future?
Well for the purpose of this example its a yes or no. However in trading, we can have a fair idea of where price is going to be. with a degree of certainty. I personally believe and practice this mantra now. We should ALWAYS have a fair idea of WHERE is price going, using the relative point in time/space where price is Right NOW and where it has been. e.g. when AO is peaking and showing a wave 3 and price has stretched out a lot, we often will have a fair idea that price will now pullback and we can mark 38% to 50% retrace areas and guess that it might come around this area. Strategies can be created using this principle. One such strategy is the Fruit. We then know that when its done that pullback and stops near or between those two levels if it resumes in the direction of previous wave it would probably move as much as 62% of the previous wave. Now you got another way to tell, in advance that this is where price might go.

However, if your mind is a in the erratic state, due to fear, stress and anxiety, you might be in the DIY Lobotomy state of mind. You won't be using your "intelligent" brain (part of the brain). Chances are you won't see these patterns, you'll find it easier to not trade or get out. However, if you gave yourself 2 min of Calm relaxed, deep and smooth rhythmic breathing [space] chances are that you will enter the coherent state and begin to see alot of things that may have been blocked due to fear factor.

hope it makes sense.

ps: and thank you... I have been a believer of this. "The path to success is riddled with [often repeated] smaller losses"

Oh that clip from how deep is the rabbit hole

I've read and researched that field a lot. It's unprovable science but quantum physics will one day find the answers

The speed with which the baseball or cricket ball is thrown is much faster than the time it takes for humans to perceive and react.
Yet we keep hitting thosd balls without failing ... How is it possible? Is it a case of great prediction by the human perception system or does the mind actually goes faster than speed of light finds out where the ball WAS and WHERE IS IT GOING?
then feeds that information back into the future?
