Multiple time frames cursor. Get and Set

Unread post by Liam »

One of the irritating things about using two time frames is the constant need to figure out where you are in one chart, compared to another.
For example, you see a nice break above the green line of the Alligator in M5 and wonder where exactly that occurred on the M1 chart?

I have used software with what is called a global cross hair. This allows you to move the cross hair on one chart and it moves the cross hair on the
other chart so that you can see where you are on two different charts at the same time. Unfortunately MT4 doesn't have a feature like this.

So, I wondered if someone had programmed one and went looking.

What I found is very useful, a pair of scripts called get and set.

You drop the get script on the M5 chart and a vertical magenta line appears.
You then drop the set script on the M1 chart and a vertical blue line appears.

Move the M5 line to a place of interest and the M1 line moves to the same place exactly on the M1 chart.
No more fussing around trying to figure out which M1 candle lined up with a particular M5 candle.

When you want to get rid of the scripts, just change the chart time frame.

I have added the scripts here (I hope that is ok - they are from Forex Factory under the heading
" Program to Allow MT4 to show cross hair over different time frames," and should be public domain stuff.)

I find these scripts quite useful for M5 M1 analysis and hope that others do as well.

There is also another version that also adds the horizontal lines but I didn't feel the need to use that one a it is less
of an issue as far as I can see.

Let me know if it is useful.

The second set of scripts (get Cross and Set Cross from the same source) work like this:

You set the horizontal and vertical lines on the M5 chart and the corresponding point on the M1 chart is automatically identified.

Thanks Liam! appreciated. will give it a shot when the markets open! however during live markets I have Snormals Multi fib indicator that shows me the relavant m5,m15 and other levels if I like! (on the fresh upper and lower aims levels)

However, as you mentioned in your first post, if we could see crosshair move on both charts simultaneously., that would be very nice!
