Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
I think it's important to decorate your trading area with visual reminders and notes to keep you on track.
After a long battle with cancer Mum passed away on the 8 Dec. So now she sits on top of my trading screen, reminding me to stay patient and disciplined and to only take valid setups. I'm looking forward to next year and trading well under her watchful eye (although I hope to get at least a few days in over the next couple weeks too).
Looking forward to getting back into trading and continuing with micro goal achievement every day. Just like the bricklayer lays one brick at a time, I'm building my house with pips.
Cya all soon

Very sorry to hear about your loss.
My mother was taken far too soon by the same illness.
I know what you are going through and my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
The photo is great.

Hi Dave,
I'm so sorry to hear this. I really can feel with you and remember well 2002/3 when my both parents died.
She will watch over your pips, I'm sure.
Best wishes from Bettina

Mums are Mums! There is nothing like a Mum! I love my mum and she is alive and well. I cannot say I know your pain, but I can say this, that I don't have the heart to imagine how it would be like. But they all have to go one day! I pray for her. I am sure she will be watching over you sending you vibes of love. May her soul rest in peace!
Have a Peaceful and Beautiful Christmas. xoxo

Mon 17 Dec - No trading
Tue 18 Dec
1. Did you perform your pre-trading routine?
Yes
2. Did you trade today? If yes, detail your entries including reasons for entry and exit and trade results.
Watched from 0800 UK to 1100 UK, didn't see any really nice setups so didn't take any entries. Looked like there were a couple moves just after Frankfurt open but wasn't watching then. The two opportunities of interest while I was watching were on EURUSD and EURJPY, both at 0935 UK, but the candles just pierced the top of the AIMS box so I let them go. Time for a break, back for NY if I'm not asleep (NY is 0130am here).
Actually, just out of interest, I know that FOREX markets are considered to open at 0800, but given they're 24hrs that's not entirely correct. The UK stock market opens at 0800, so that's London open, but Wall St opens at 0930. So do you still consider 0800 as a time of interest for NY or do you consider 0930 to be the open?

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
I'd say NY officially opens the equivalent of 1300GMT, but they are really just hanging up coats opening post and drinking coffee
Most the movements seem to start at 1330 when news gets released, and even if theres no news most of the action seems to start on the 1330 and 1400 new bars
I agree what you say about forex being a 24hr market, and that the local open is really related to stock exchange trading. And of course the national index eg FTSE100 does usually correlate ok with currency eg GBP

I wish more people would come on here to share something on their journals

1% daily gain, compounded for 250 trading days, (approximately one year) would produce 1103% account growth[/center]
"Markets reflect the positioning of the sum total of investors – they are not driven by something an individual investor knows that the rest of us don’t, but they do to an extent reflect what investors think other investors are thinking and so can diverge in the shorter term from the economic fundamentals."

For me, 7GMT UK is Frankfurt Open, 8GMT is London Open I keep an eye on both the opens, and then 1pm I consider NY Open. But Also keep an eye for 1.30 because that's the NYSE Open! Banks and Stock Exchanges opens are my opens. But it is true, Forex is a 24hr market so there is one open and one close, and that is weekly open/close.
Those times for me are Chaos Influx Points. New Incoming Information enters the markets and sets trends or kills trends.
cheers

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Back on the 7 Jan and back into as much trading as work allows. It's been good to take a few weeks and reset my mind and confirm my goals and aspirations. Looking forward to 2013 and the success it may bring all of us! (and of course a thorough and diligently kept journal
)
