Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Dave! Well done on the positive long trade. For me the Short was just not a setup, it was reversal and trend on EJ was Long Long Long! at that time. Well done on catching the long. I took that too and got out for 10.

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Your checklist is just so ace!
Profits in fx don't often if ever happen by accident, and yet losses do.
If we all printed your list and plastered it everwhere, even papered our rooms with it, I'm sure we'd all do better!

I wish more people would come on here to share something on their journals

Nothing for me today, worked late. Just saw some huge moves on EU and EJ so I hope someone climbed into them! Happy weekend to everyone!

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Hi Dave, actually there were some lovely moves after a quiet London morning, but I just wrote about them on my own journal (missed it!), also sms with a fellow aimster who shares thoughts with me, suggesting we have to be content if we dont trade due to one of several requisite conditions not having been met even if that trade turned out to be a whopping winner. For me that may have been the situation at 1330GMT. We are hopeful that the trades which do satisfy all of the rules, such as AO wave near ZL, not towards purple, and not from an aims box too high, have a high probability of putting us in a W3 or w5 not a 2 or 4 and which will give us a good outcome.Dave wrote:Fri 11 Jan

Patience: Dear Lord in Heaven, please send me more patience. As soon as possible. Amen.

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
You're absolute right, Ray. If its not a setup then it's not a setup and it doesn't matter what the market does. Similarly, even if it is a setup but we pay rent then so be it. I once heard these situations described as the 'background noise' of the market, and we just filter out this noise while waiting for our conditions to be met - even if that noise ends up being an 80 pip jump!

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Weekly summary:
6 trades, 4 wins, 2 losses, +18.5 pips
Running pip count (2 weeks): So next week is tough for me. I am working late on Tuesday and Wednesday, so unlikely to trade these days unless work is dead quiet, and Thursday afternoon I'm off interstate for a wedding so Thursday and Friday are definitely out.
I am AWARE that I don't have much time to trade next week. I am AWARE that in the past I may have forced trades and been un-disciplined and tried to achieve a weeks profit in the short time I have available. I am AWARE that these forced trades and un-disciplined approach has hurt my trading balance. I am AWARE of these issues and so I am able to trade with patience and discipline and not force what isn't there!
Cya Monday,
Dave

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Mon 14 Jan
1. Did you perform your pre-trading routine?
Yes. Had a rushed day so sitting for a few minutes and going through my routine really setlled me down and cleared my mind. This is the whole point of the routine.
2. Did you trade today? If yes, detail your entries including reasons for entry and exit and trade results.
Well I was 10 mins late for the drop just before LO, and I was a little distracted throughout the next few hours, partly trying to hard not to force it. Saw a couple chances but second guessed them – have to just trust the setup, and when it rears it’s head jump on it, especially if I’m now waiting for that first fractal on M5.
Anyway, tomorrow is another day, although as I mentioned I’m unlikely to see any decent chart time this week.

Re: Dave from Sydney's Journal
Tue 15 Jan
Found a little bit of time amongst work but it was to no avail, small rent on GBPUSD short that in hindsight wasn't an amazing entry. Anyway, I can cop a -2.5 pips, happy I followed my trading plan and closed for small loss. No pic, won't upload for some reason.
Results summary:
1. -2.5
