Wednesday 29th August, Trade 3, EURUSD 1m, +8 . Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day. Of course my biggest winner of the month comes after I've shredded my lot size.

Paul!
We need to work with you. Perhaps if you buy a mic next time we talk would be beneficial! It appears you did not trade today?
Lets hope Sept will be better. August was tough all around but there were some good days. However personally I had another good month it was certainly not like August 2011 or 2010. Well that does not matter because every moment in the market is unique. But the patterns are similar although not identical.
I suggest you go through all trades of the month and ask one question? was it a setup and did you only collect the rents and missed the pipsarious ones? if that is the case its simply a case of chaos. You may have been out of the zone or else if you chose to filter the setups that were actually good setups, then we'll have to look into reasons why you felt that way. many different things to look at in terms of finding problems and solutions to it, but there is only one thing to do in order to CREATE profits. Focus on your setups and dont give up. well done on being patient and disciplined.
Here's to a beautiful trading month of September and a (angry) goodbye to August!
Stay put my friend the system will take care of you in the long run.
cheers and have a great weekend.

Re: PaulF's Journal
You see the big move early on today? I placed an order and entered the trade. The I turned on the Fib Expansion thingy and realised that it was on the TZ1 already, and closed for .5 pips. It went for about a million!immy wrote:It appears you did not trade today?
I think every trade I take is a valid setup. I wish I'd posted them all for you to double check, and I will from now on. But I think the problem is that I'm somehow filtering the winners....incredibly well!immy wrote:was it a setup and did you only collect the rents and missed the pipsarious ones?

Do you use the strategy tester in MT4?
I find this invaluable in learning and honing my skills. I use V5.1 and have two sessions of MT4 with the strategy tester on both, one for M1 and the other for M5. I then set about testing different scenarios to see what the outcome will be. I log everything down so I can compare results. Try trading every dot irrespective of other factors then introduce the aims box filter, the alligators and so on. It takes time but it gives an excellent picture of what works and what doesn't. If you really know this as opposed to being told it makes a massive difference (at least it did for me).
I spend more time on strategy tester than I do actually trading (around 14 hours yesterday and probably a similar time over the weekend). I have taken literally 10's of thousands of Aims trades using strategy tester and it is for me at least the key to success.
Support/resistance zones and trendlines are something I draw on my charts every morning without fail and cannot trade without them. These are my main filter and serve me very well.
Good luck and I admire your persistence.
