Momentum Trades

I will store my momentum trades here. I am still trading S1, S2
Retracing Seeds and Divergent Bars in 'Mickey's Journal'

This thread used to be my 'HTF Trades' but it fell into disuse so
I have renamed it. That said, AIMS is very simple but I seem to have
only had one real winner in the last twenty trades!! - and still just
scraped into profit due to careful money management.

Here is the very simple setup as shared by Ray and his AIMS
friendly colleagues. I am not recommending it to others but
my initial experience has been pleasant and profitable and I
am seeing the market in a slightly different perspective.
My goal is to eventually be able to read the market as well
as the amazing talented guys we have on this site.

I made +6.75% November 9th and 10th. I will continue with them
now on this thread and keep them separate to avoid any confusion.
The first four trades +1, -1, +4.75. +2 are in Mickey's Journal
post titled 'Amazing Guys' on page 27.

8.75% in three days, I'm sure that's a record for me
but I've just had about 18 losers out of 20 on the
other thread albeit for a small profit, so we definitely
need to look at the much bigger picture

Its definitely no licence to print money but anything
to do with momentum suits my trading style

Trade 5
Trailed Momentum as usual and got out at right time for a 2R
and another 2% to my account

But I switched down to trailing M1 from M5 to get a better
close - No, I don't think that's so smart on such a LTF
I instinctively switched back to M5 and seemed to call it about
right

btw this is not an easy strategy to master! I was very pleased
today to get a result in a range bound market. Of course I
don't know if that will be typical but I suspect the Double
Cross is key when moving sideways.

I think in a trend confluent with HTF its possible that all
is needed is the EMA 6 to take a sudden nosedive through 50
or skydive up as the case may be.

There is a great deal of intuition involved and I would never
consider this to be a mechanical system, at least not yet.

Someone will probably come along and knock up a flow chart
just to prove me wrong!

Good, I hope they do :)

I noticed a 3P Reversal Pattern along with everything else for entry.

I placed TP at an ambitious 4.5R. It was never hit.

But I was quite pleased to see the perfect confluence of trailing
bars and the reversal cross of the QQE, it just made me feel
I got it about right for 2.5% which is still very, very good
and becoming the norm, at the moment at least.

What is so sickening is how I placed the TP 2R to
precision then bailed out half way there for 1R.

Generally trailing bars is best but when I got out
the momentum did seem to be flagging.

It had another lease of life.

I couldn't possibly have known that

But the picture becomes clearer when we put it into
an AIMS context

We see that price never reversed below the prior
upper AIMS level

This actually was quite interesting. It was a nice S2 on HTF
but Blue was under Red on CTF QQE.

So it was failing to launch, spluttering about a lot but not going
anywhere

I got out quick for BE

My Magic Arrow Indicator!

10) -1% DS 1

If anyone is reading this, especially newer members, and you are looking
for that special indicator to give you winner after winner, look no further!
my little arrows told me to buy or sell

The last three days I clocked up almost +15% but here's the sting in the
tail - all these magic indicators have a habit of turning very nasty

so here is the real secret, and one it can take years to learn

When things are going well, as they have been for me last three days
by all means milk it for all it's worth

but when the market is staying in a tight range just walk away!

This morning my little arrow gave me eight signals to trade and I
ignored all of them - thankfully as they all would have lost

but on the ninth I was in as we had a breakout of AIMS and
cross of AO Zero Line

and we all know we can trust AIMS indicators! :)

You cannot trust any indicators nor any combination
of indicators!

If the market conditions are wrong you might as well
bin all your indicators as you will only lose

I will have a quick look at the currencies to see if there
are any HTF set ups, then I am switching off

Switching off may be the million dollar secret

I Didn't Switch Off!

Trade 11

-0.5% DS 1

We see just how beguiling trading can be - really when in doubt
we really should walk away.

But I saw something I needed to check, and that was the Double Cross,
it usually seems to be an extra strong signal, but it seems when the
market is being especially difficult and choppy there really is nothing we
can do except Switch off and walk away, - as above

At least I closed with just a half percent loss

So the reinforced lesson once again is that

The Market has to be acting in a non erratic manner

otherwise you simply cannot possibly win

In the Skyperoom the guys get understandably restless during
these periods and on occasion get sucked into trading at their
peril.

I have just given proof myself how easy it is to do this.

But I am glad of the lesson actually, it being -

My magic little arrows give a very early entry signal and are
gold dust but only in optimum market conditions.

The Double Cross has to be stronger either in a trend or
where the range is far more spacious and not so prone
to erratic behaviour

13 Trades last five days 77% SR averaging over 5% per day.

I'm doing something right on this Thread and 18/20 losers
on my regular thread where my AIMS rules are far more rigid.

But the fault isn't with AIMS. If psychology is at least 80%
of trading than I'm at a loss to explain how I am continually
losing on one thread whilst concurrently winning better than
ever on another thread.

I'm winning an average of 5% per day. Am I dreaming?

Admittedly there is a lot of intuition involved but it is the
right kind. It is still entering and exiting according to rules but
I have been looking at a confluence of different signals based
around the central AIMS methodology.

Its working for me at the moment but I am not encouraging
anyone to emulate what I am doing. I actually do know what
I am doing and that confidence may be a big factor in recent
results.

When you have a fantastic system like AIMS it doesn't help
for everyone to pile on their favourite tweaks and indis

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Although what I have been doing last few days may seem rather
complex it really isn't.

I have been building on an idea learnt from Ray and his colleagues
and asking myself a few 'What if' questions. The answers have
been very profitable so far with only three tiny rents.

If I can keep up this level of success I will close my original
journal and rename it 'Mickey Apprenticeship' because that
is what it has been.

I will then transfer to this thread and rename this 'Mickey's Journal '.

My Trading Plan will need a third revision but I will detail some of
the features here.

First of all I have found that it doesn't matter how good your system is
if you are wading in chop you are going to lose!

So I found an indicator in Russia that compares various Oscillators and RSI
and so you get an overview of the state of that currency. It gives you an
overall conclusion eg 90% Buy Strong - That's total rubbish.

The entire indicator should be rubbish but it isn't.

I just look at the two last columns Bear and Bull. When both columns agree
on three or more consecutive TFs its actually worth taking note!

When you then call up that currency chart you do actually find quite a
nice looking trend

So I use that to see if there might be anything worth trading.

This might be worth more than the actual system - making sure the market
conditions are right.

I have a dedicated monitor always on monitoring 24 currencies ( 22 + Gold +Dax)

I really don't need that many but they are all max 2 pips even Swedish Krona
which I want to trade at least once just for the hell of it!

But 24 was the maximum that would fit on my screen and most the other exotics
were over 2 pip spread.

So here is my magic market condition overview indicator -
16.jpg
Ok, so we see that EU may be worth trading, now we need a set up.

I don't have a rigid set up but I have eleven factors that I look at, some
often occur simultaneously.

The first thing I look for is either a Magic Arrow or a Cross of 6 over 50 EMA
Then I check QQE ADV for an entry signal and this is inviolable!

Then its basically intuition to see how much confluence there is with break of
AIMS, ZL or cross of ZL on AO, is there a Seed with retraced AO? or Divergent
Bar with retaraced AO?

I don't need confluence of all eleven factors but these are now everything I
primarily work with.

Usually Exits can be determined by the simple reverse of the above and again
intuition plays a big part here as well. I will illustrate that later.

But here are my Ocean's Eleven-
Setup.jpg
1. AO Zero
2. QQE QDV ( Blue MUST cross both 50 Line and red. )
3. AIMS Entry Alert
4. 4/5 Cross Arrow
5) Price Cross of EMA 6 ( HL/2 ) Shift 5
6) Wilde Momentum Bar
7) EMA Cross 6/50
8) Break of Small AIMS
9) Divergent Candle confluent AO Retrace
10) PIB (Seed) Confluent AO Retracement
11) Price and AO Divergence
