Marce's Journal

Unread post by Marce »

Hi all,
It is a pleasure to be a member of AIMS, the amount of real information and all the experiences shared in the forum is amazing.

I have been trading for about 5 years, always on stocks and using daily charts with very little success, I have not made money, if I make a summary of what I got over all this time I am basically on break even.
I started as many people, using trend indicators, MACD and cross of MA for my trading, which gave me as I said periods of profit and several drawdowns that ate those profits.

About more than 1 year ago I started to read all Bill Williams books and I was fascinated with his theory and method, I know fractals and chaos theories so seeing a practical application in the market made sense to me. So I started to apply WB new method from “Trading Chaos Second Edition” about September 2016 and I must say that, again, I did not manage to make my profits going up, I caught very good movements but the amount of drawdowns afterwards took away all gained.

So far I can only trade daily charts, because of my job I travel very frequently around the world, so the different countries times make me impossible to make myself available at the time I would like to be consistent (such as any of the major markets openings). In short, I have to stick to trade on daily charts, and check them for about 1 hour maximum every night.

My initial plan was to do T20 (on a demo account) only using S1 on daily charts from the following list:
• 8 Forex, majors.
• 7 index (Dax, Fra40, Ibex35,Uk100…)
• Gold, Silver, Platinum.
• Cocoa and Brent
Well, despite the amount of markets I chose, I started to trade on April 9th, and by now May 9th, I have been able to trade only 4 Set-up 1. At this pace, It will take half year to complete only the first T20.

So far, I was reluctant to use the Fruit entries for two reasons: first because I really wanted to understand and use S1 properly and second because Fruit seems to be basically what I had been trying to do before following Bill Williams last book.
I have quite a few questions but I will keep reading in the forum and I may find answers before asking all. But in the meantime, I do have a question to the forum members:

Does anyone have long experience trading mainly daily charts? If so, I would be glad to see their approach: what markets, only S1 or also Fruit, please let me know.
And I also have a very specific question, in your experience what is a good R/R for S1 in a daily chart?

Thank you very much all.

hi Marce

Welcome to AIMS and the world of Journals. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you enjoy your time with us.
The daily charts are nice. April was not the most exciting of months. Don't worry you will get months where you get 30 signals. others with no signals at all. We only take the very high probability setups. However, if you add the Hunt Signals to your method later on you will be getting too many signals on the daily chart. The Hunt is perfect for D1.

All the best [Do you have a solid written trading plan for the next 5 years?]

The thing that makes me money in trading is when I "Objectively Follow my Trading Plan".

I understand that I can't catch all the moves or all the signals but my objective is to catch THE VALID SIGNALS & ONLY the Valid Signals.

Hi Immy,
Thanks for your comments, ok I'll be patient and will wait for better months :-)
I have not written my long term plan yet, firstly I want to be familiar with the method, but I'll do!
I will post my trading records and graphs as soon as I have completed the first T20.
Cheers

Welcome to our little group!
Take a screenshot of every trade and post it so we can comment and apply the t20 method, its the key to success. I have some experience in Daily charts Fruit but setup training is a must since it is also part of fruit.
Setup1 only is good enough and should be your main focus till your confortable with it, Hunt signals are great on higher timeframes and you can add them later to Setup1 to get more entries but as Immy mentioned Setup alone in all those markets should be enough.
