Alison's Journal

Unread post by alison »

Hello everyone, my name is Alison and I am relatively new to the world of trading.

Trading has interested me for quite some time but have not taken the plunge until now. I have read many books and articles on the subject and get a clear message that discipline is the key element. I was recommended to read “Trading in the Zone” by Mark Douglas which I completed a few weeks ago. I found it an excellent read with the exercise on “Learning to Trade an Edge Like a Casino” been a standout part of the book for me.

The book struck such a chord with me that I went in search of someone who could provide this form of training and this is how I came across Aims Stress Free Trading. The T20 Principle, trading room, strategies and the excellent reviews I have read about Aims are why I am here now about to embark on this new chapter in my life.

I've been going over the material for the past few days, my charts are set up and I'm ready to start my Stage 1 T20 journal.

Thank you

Hey Alison

A very warm welcome to AIMS... an Excellent first post and a great way to start. Discipline is the KEY...

You've read the best book. T20 Principle is based on the same idea. The objectives of T20 are roughly the same as Mr. Douglas (rip) has laid out in the book. When ever I start to think of writing a book on the mind side for AIMS, I always stopped and said, "Mark Douglas" has done it. Just let people know they should read that book. Job Done.

Lets do it!!!

All you have to do is .. WAIT ... SEE ... Check. confirm TAKE ... dont give a damn about if it is a winner or loser... Redefine the meaning of a winner. A winning trade is a DS1....

A very disappointing day for me today.

I woke up feeling tired and didn’t go for my usual morning walk or have my 10 minutes of quiet contemplation. Instead, I messed about doing nothing useful before sitting at my pc at 7:50. Usually, I will concentrate 100% on the charts but not this morning. I was busy doing other things and missed the excellent setup 1 at London Open.

I was so annoyed with myself that I walked away from my PC and went for the walk I should have had earlier. I made the decision to not look at the charts for the rest of the day as I was not in the right frame of mind.

Missing out on my usual morning routine had a profound effect on me today. Being “in the zone” is mentioned numerous times in the training material and I was anything but this morning. In future, I will sit out a session if I am anything but 100% mentally ready for trading. This isn’t a game and I must treat it seriously and give it the respect it deserves.

1. Trade Number: Batch 1 Trade 1

2. Date/Time: 29-11-18 – 14:31

3. Symbol/TF: Dax M1

4. Signal Type / Direction : Setup 1, BUY

5. Comments and Feelings at the Time of Taking The Trade:
M5 alligator was open to the upside, M1 alligator was asleep and everything looked good for a setup 1. My only reservation was the aims box to the left, my po was at this exact same level. Price crossed back down and created a black dot and I cancelled the po. The next candle I got a blue dot so again I set the po. I got another black dot but did not cancel this time and waited to see what would happen. After a few minutes, my po was triggered and my first ever trade was underway. I felt very happy throughout the whole process and had a positive expectation and belief.

6. Comments and Trades After Exiting the Trade:
Once the trade was over and had hit my stop loss I reviewed what had happened and immediately saw that M5 was in fact in wave 4, this together with the alternating blue and black dots did not make this a good trade.
I knew at some point I would have a losing trade and was expecting to feel disappointed when this happened, however, I had no feelings at all, I simply accepted it for what it was.
This is my 9th day watching the charts and my 1st trade. I feel I have learnt a lot from the comments in the trading room and have learnt from this trade. I know there is an awful long way to go, however, I feel happy with where I am and feel very positive for the future.

7. DS For this Trade: 0

8. DS Running Total: 0 / 1 (0% )

I have been a member for almost 2 months. In that time I have sat at my screen for 5 hours each day (2 hours + 3 hours) for 20 days. In that time I have taken just one trade. Most of the time I don’t think it is a good setup and other times I simply don’t see them as they are unfolding. When I look back over the day I can see my missed opportunities.

I don’t feel frustrated or have any anger, I sit at the screen feeling very calm and at the end of the session do a review of the day and then get on with life.

The one trade I have taken is my one and only trade I have ever taken. Even though I don’t feel it maybe I am scared of taking the trades because I don’t know how to do it? Therefore, I have decided to take a break from the subscription and have a play with a demo account or a few weeks and reevaluate things.

Hope to see you back here soon and good luck to you all.

Hi Alison

That's a bit sad to hear. But I understand. Thanks for letting us know. I really hate to see people joining during december as I'm always aware that the lower volatility and lack of trading periods will frustrate new people. But that's what the market is like.

December really is a 2 week month. This is really the first ever very profitable december in my trading career. Before this its either a small loss or just small profit. or no trading. Most of the decembers, well last 9 of them, I've taken the week before december and come back 2nd week of January except this year. Because I knew things were busy on Dow.

It would have been more fun had you spoke to me/us in the chatroom about how you felt during the trading days. The 5 hrs of watching markets could have just 5-10 min for us in the chatroom as well please...

Hope to see you again. Btw: you can still trade on demo while part of the team. Trading is a skill that can be learnt.

oh, if you come back , you don't need to sit for 5 hrs. Sit ONLy 2 Hrs. 8am till 10am. also your valid trading days were only until the 21st of December.

Oh, sorry to hear Alison. Last weeks have been a holiday period and not the best time to trade. Although there were moves on dax and setups were present. Next time/in the future please tell about the possible issues earlier and people could help you out. In the meanwhile you can continue actual trading or just offline charts and post images in the forum, if you like. All the best!
