Michael's H4/D1 "Journal"

Unread post by zlabis »

Hello everybody ;-)

I was away from the AIMS-community for quite a long time. Many family-care and business issues have had to be sorted out or fixed during the last years. Now as things are nearly back on track again, having some more minutes per day available, it urged me to jump in back here again.

When private and business workload had increased 3 years ago, I figured out that trading small timeframes (M1/M5 DAX and EU) had become too demanding for me and made me very uncomfortable. I decided to switch to a solution which requires not more than 15-30 minutes per day for proper trading. So I came, with time, to trading exclusively D1 with (finaly) 20 mixed instruments (FOREX main pairs except of SFR-Pairs, main index- and some commodities-futures). After the setups (mainly S1 towards TZ1, in addition pin bars/good Adam's Apples supported by S/R and trendlines) and routines had been established, it worked out rather effortless, checking the charts and making trades at NY-close (22:00 GMT, 23:00 CET) or in the morning for 15-30 minutes. One and a half years ago I added 4H TF to my toolbox and it turned out that it wasn't much more time effort but better profit due to more, but still reliable and stable signals. Later I added H1 TF as well but it turned out that it required too much attention/screen time, therefor I quitted H1 very quickly again.

I can't/won't keep an online journal here but 1.) I want to stay in touch with you guys a 2.) post regularly some trades or trade ideas.

To Immy, Grant and Steve (and the other AIMS-veterans):
I want to thank you for all your work and efforts helping traders to find their ways to robust, sustainable and profitable trading. There are no shortcuts but you helped me a lot avoiding pitfalls and detours. :hug

So, here are some recent trades:

Michael, the Hairy Potters...

I hear the sounds of classical music already... I see the building art of vienna...

Man.... its a pleasure to see you back ... What awesome times we had (on skype and chat etc) together...

Your post hit me in the face , only ever so gently like the morning breath of fresh air...

thank you for posting and connecting with us...

And lastly ... you seem to have figured out your routine and method. that is what I'm teaching here. I want people to get to stage 3, in a methodical manner , i want them to stick to the system and then grow with it, make it their own and develop a mechanism that fits their personality, life choices and dare I say comfort....

Most kind regards

Immy

Hey guys and gals ;-)

Thank you for your kind words, Immy. Good to be back again :hug

Here are some beautiful S1 setups on H4 I've taken yesterday evening (AJ, EJ) or during my morning check (GU) at 7:30am CET (=6:30 GMT or 9:30 system time). Very self explanatory, IMHO ;-)

Have a great day :thumbs

Hi Michael,
welcome back to AIMS.
Immy suggested I check your journal as you trade the same time frame as me. What part of the world are you in?
Your charts look similar, there are a few of us down under in OZ.

Kind Regards
Vicky

Hey Vicky,
thank you for your warm welcome.

I'm actually living in Vienna/Austria. Haven't checked your journal yet but nice to see others trading the longer TFs as well. It leads for me to a very effective trading style regarding effort/profitability ratio. And I consider myself more as an mid-/long-term investor with conservative profit goals rather than a short term day trader. I'm very happy with stable 20-25% per year with 15 minutes time effort per day.

All the above said it is crucial for my trading D1 to use a broker with 5 daily candles per week being synchronized to New York close. Therefore I switched from GKFX to Axitrader nearly 3 years ago. They offer NY close servers and their service, spreads and slippage are ok as well. Although spread is not so much of an issue with volatile H4 and D1 Instruments, it compounds over time.

That's it for rhe moment. You're very welcome to drop some comments on my trading examples or ideas.

Cheers
Michael
