Wonder if anyone can answer this question please, I am looking at updating my trading computer , and keep getting mixed messages regarding a Mac, Can MT4 with all the indicators and templates etc be run from a Mac, I have been told yes , but also been told it only runs a limited version. Many Thanks Michael

Re: Mac and MT4
To my knowledge, no MT4 is PC based only. The only solution I know of is running windows OS on your Mac.

Re: Mac and MT4
Hello Michael,
John is correct, you may indeed run MT4 on a Mac but you do need to install Windows on your Mac by either using Boot Camp in which case it then would be a stand alone Mac or PC. You would then boot in to one or the other OS, Mac or Windows machine, a clumsy approach imo because you can't uses the Mac OS.
Or you could install Parallels virtualization software which would allow you to open your Boot Camp partition and run Windows at the same time that you run your Mac OS, better solution imho.
Or you could use either one of the two most popular virtualization software apps. VMware or Parallels and install Windows as a virtual machine and forget the about Boot Camp partition altogether, better yet imo.
I have done both and just recently switched to the virtual machine solution using Parallels and I only used Parallels because it was bought and paid for. I recently read an article comparing these two apps. and from what I could see they are so close that it really doesn't matter which one you choose. However what I found most interesting in the review was the comparison of the upgrade cost between the two apps. Parallels was quite a bit more expensive in the long run, 5 X or some such thing.
Nutshell opinion I'd suggest running in a virtual machine. Why, simple if you use a Mac and run a 'virtual machine' your built in backup software would be Time Machine and this backup is the smoothest I have ever experienced either in Mac or Windows and it will completely & fully back up a Windows virtual machined. So if there is any kind of problem or crash when you do a restore "everything" will be there just as you used your machine before the hardware failure. If you use Boot Camp you will not be able to use Time Machine to back up your Windows partition, big pain in the arse.
I have had to do full restores on two Mac's in the 5 years since I switched over to using Mac's and it was 'flawless"…
One last opinion, install Windows XP Pro SP3 and run MT4 on that OS it uses far less computer resources and runs MT4 very smoothly. I've read about a lot of permission problems with Win 7 it seems some have problems with it and others don't, but why experiment to find out?
If you buy a Mac don't skimp and get their extended 3 year warrantee protection plan if it's available in you region or country there service repair is simply AMAZING story for another time...
One of the new AIMSters members from the FMM group has recently switch over and I had helped him a couple of months ago maybe he'll came across this thread and have an opinion to share.
I think you'll simply love it.

I too can confirm that MT4 on Parallels on a Mac works really well. Very very happy with the solution.
Great weekend to all.
